Violin Care For Beginning Violin Players
If you are beginning the violin it is important that you treat your instrument with proper care. A violin is a sensitive instrument, composed of number of parts which are easily broken, bent or snapped. If you want your violin to continue to produce good music for years to come then you need to take practical steps to look after it. There are a number of common ways of damaging a violin: you might break the bow, you can snap strings, break the tailpiece, knock the fingerboard loose or snap the bridge.Live resin
To look after your violin, follow these steps:
1: Keep It Cool! Do not store your violin in the loft, the boiler room or anywhere else it may be subject to high or low temperatures. Violins are composed of very fragile wood, and as such do not react well to extreme changes in temperature.
2. Buy Good Strings. There are a variety of different strings, I recommend you buy decent quality. Cheap strings will stress your violin causing it to bend and crack.
3. Sensible Storage. Buy a decent case for your violin and keep it in the case at all times when your violin is not in use. Usually when one of my students has a damaged violin, it got damaged because they carelessly left it lying and it ended up getting knocked over or stepped on.
4. Easy on the rosin. It is essential to apply rosin to the hairs of your violin bow, otherwise your violin would not produce any sound. However if you apply too much rosin it will transfer to the violin and cause your violin to become smudged and dirty looking. You should also make sure you use rosin which is appropriate to the area you live in. Dark rosin is best for cool areas, while light rosin is appropriate if you live somewhere with a warm climate. 5. Have your violin professionally repaired. As soon as you notice any small problem with your violin you need to have it taken care of immediately, before it becomes a major problem. You should use a luthier to make repairs. Search around and ask for recommendations so you can find a good one.
